Powered Attachments & Inserts

BATRI-SHIFTA

2000kg capacity

Models BS-15N/L (for batteries up to 650mm wide) & BS-22W/L (for batteries up to 1000mm wide)

There are two models of Batri-Shifta, the M15N/L handles batteries up to 650mm wide & the M22W/L which handles batteries up to 1000mm wide.

 

The Batri-Shifta attachment takes its 24 volt supply from the host powered pallet truck that will be used to carry it.

 

The host powered pallet truck specification

 

Voltage              24 Volt

 

Capacity             Equal to the heaviest battery to be handled plus 350kgs.

 

Forks                 Must be 1500mm long and 685mm wide, the load wheels should be as close to end of the forks as possible for stability when taking the weight of battery.

 

Hydraulics         Must have controlled raise and lower functions

 

Mounting            Physical Connection to the host pallet truck is simple using four M10 fasteners and clamp.

 

Electrical            Connection to the host powered pallet truck is via our specially designed connector block. Using the same type of connectors as the host powered pallet truck to                                 give simple coupling.  This allows the host pallet truck & the Batri-Shifta to be controlled independently of each other.

 

All the batteries should be aligned along the front of the rack to allow easy access by the magnet, as per our Space-Saver Roller Beds

 

The Batri-Shifta magnet is designed for use on flat steel surfaces. 

 

The battery case end plates should be a minimum 6mm thick. When end plates are too thin distortion of the battery case can occur reducing magnet contact.  This can be a crucial factor when handling very heavy batteries.

The table above shows a difference of 264mm in roll out height between baterries A & C. 

 

With an insert we can accommodate all three roll out heights and the different battery widths.

 

This unique facility has been developed by design and allows the magnet height to be varied.

 

The Batri-Shifta magnet is designed for use with minimum 6mm thick steel battery end plates. 

 

All batteries must be aligned at the front of the rack for access by the magnet.

 

The Batri-Shifta is an ingenious attachment that easily converts a powered pallet truck into a safe, free roaming battery-changing tool.

 

If you use different types of truck, you very easily end up with several different battery widths & roll out heights.

 

A counterbalance truck battery can be up to 1000mm wide, whilst an order picker could be only 200mm wide a difference of 800mm.

 

A space that suits an 1000mm wide battery would not be safe for a 200mm wide battery as the smaller battery without guides can crab dangerously when pushed or pulled

 

The two batteries would also be mounted in their trucks at different roll out heights, say 435mm  & 171mm respectively.  A factor of 264mm

 

Roll out heights can range from 110m – 530mm a factor of  420mm.  Which is outside the scope of most battery handling tools with a factor of 200mm at best. 

 

Using the correct MASH-B insert one Batri-Shifta can handle up to eight different battery widths with a roll out range between 110mm & 540mm (Factor of 430mm )

 

That is why the Batri-Shifta goes to the top of the class. Couple this with its’ powerful electro magnet & poly strips and you will realise the Batri-Shifta is actually in a class above the rest.

 

MASH-B inserts are custom made to suit each type of battery the customer needs to handle at each site. Two to four levels is the normal requirement.

Important!  Host Powered Pallet truck requirements: Capacity equal to heaviest battery plus 350kgs. Forks – 1500 long x 685 overall width with load wheels as close to the end of forks as possible.  Must have controlled raise & lower function.

Text Box: Instead of rollers we use hard wearing Poly Strips as shown below (two per type of battery). The Poly Strips limit the movement of the battery when being transported, reducing the possibility (as can happen with rollers) of losing the battery through dynamic force when slowing down. The battery is also secured by a safety strap.
